2019 Trend, Bold Color

One of the trends that is gaining popularity in 2019 is bold color. I am a fan of clean and neutral colors and yet I find myself drawn to the cheerfulness of big and bright colors and what they bring to the table.

Hidden within the simple black, white and gray, the sunny yellow really makes this room standout.

This kitchen really pops. It has just enough bold amongst the white cabinets making it bright and cheery.

If you aren’t quite ready to commit to an entire room perhaps start out with a corner window. The bold colors with natural light create a warm and welcoming space.

What ever color choice you choose just make sure above all else it makes you smile. Be bold and be brave.

There is a lot to be said for natural light. Combine that with white tiles, white walls and and an open floor plan and you have a room you can breathe in. I know it isn’t for everyone but it is my latest obsession. 

I can definitely imagine my family and friends gathered here enjoying each others company. So in love! Can anyone say summer project?

Everyone has a story and a reason that they do what they do. When life has you down just remember nothing is forever. We all have the ability to make our dreams come true. It starts with a seed, what grows from it is up to you. Meet Aaron Kirkeby.

The Landscaping Portion

Q: What type of landscaping is the easiest to maintain?

A: Xeri-scape landscapes are the easiest because it uses low water requirement plants in a landscape. Adding DG ( Decomposed Granite) or decorative rock is what allows for a low maintenance landscape. Being mindful of types of plants and the varieties, will allow people to make a better decision as to where to install plants and trees that will not create dropping of leaves. Invasive roots are also a consideration. A secret is found in the size of the leaf. The bigger the leaf, the higher the water demands are. The smaller the leaves, the less water is required for instance Sage is a great plant for a Southern California Landscape that is attractive and requires low amounts of water. A Tarul plant would require more water and is a great plant for a lush landscape. It all depends on what you are going after. No more secrets!!! haha

Q: What are some common mistakes people make when landscaping their yards?

A: Not meeting with me!!! Okay, on a serious note, I have found that many people look to forgo their dreams or goals in their landscape spaces because of their budgets. So they choose to do without this and that and end up fitting their space in a budget that may not provide them a landscape that they are proud of. So I always suggest that we get a game plan together. Creating the vision with a 2-dimensional rendering will allow their to be a goal to implement. Once people know exactly what it is they do want, them you can review the numbers in comparison with their budget.

Perhaps the best route to take to create their ultimate happiness is to do things in phases. Regardless if the budget is $10,000, $100,000, or $1,000,000 GET WHAT YOU WANT! We only live once and we are talking about your space! Where you come home to everyday. Where you invite friends and family to crate beautiful experiences. We would you settle for less? The point is to do the infrastructure first. Things like drainage, sleeves for future piping, concrete, pavers, pools, walls, and any hardscape that is deemed first to move forward with.

Then do Phase two with irrigation systems, decorative rock, or artificial turf. The next phase can be taking care of plants, sod turf, or decks etc. the last phase can consist of outdoor lighting. Outdoor lighting is what allows a landscape to be pleasantly enjoyed in the late evenings with family and friends. It is really all about planning. Get what you really want to have and do the installation in phases. Even if it is over a 2 year period. Or you can marry someone rich, create the next big thing people desire, or start the business you’ve been dreaming of!!! You can do anything you put your mind to!

Q: I see that you also do walkways, pavers, retaining walls etc. Do you consider yourself a one stop shop?

A: Yes we are a one stop shop that can fulfill all Landscape needs and living spaces. While our expertise is in Irrigation Systems, cultivating rich environments for plants and turf, and water management, we also do amazing work when it comes to hardscape.

Paving Stones and decorative walls make a powerful statement. It defines the flow and character of the space. Stone veneer is a beautiful addition to walls and columns that add a new level of class and presence. Combine the right plant pallet and magic happens. Having a vision well defined is the catalyst for success.

Q: Favorite plant or tree? Why?

A: “The Majestic Oak” is my favorite tree because of its awe inspiring beauty and powerful presence. It speaks to my soul. Definitely a powerful centerpiece if you have a large space. The “Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow” plant is a beautiful array of colors that changes quickly from white, to violets, and purples, then to nothing. It is like the perfect reflection of life and its cycles.

“Australian Fern” is another favorite tree of mine. The way that it unfolds is beautiful. It displays the secret to life, The Fibonacci Sequence. The Fibonacci sequence is a series of numbers where a number is found by adding up the two numbers before it. Starting with 0 and 1, the sequence goes 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21, 34, and so forth. Written as a rule, the expression is xn = xn-1 + xn-2. It is Natures way of unfoldment and growth. From this tree, to our galaxy the Milky Way, to painters masterpieces like Leonardo Divinci Mona Lisa. Leonardo new that beauty is held in this pattern and flow of life and defines beauty.

You’re probably like “Alrighty then!!!!” Haha Thought we were talking Landscapes and you’re talking mathematics! Don’t try to understand this mind. The Inspiration Part

Q: Can you tell me what led you to write your book, Swimming in the Goodness?

A: That’s s good question. A dream, I awoke in the middle of the night in January of 2011 and starting writing the format of how to achieve your dreams. My pen was just flowing. So I did exactly what was revealed to me. In a year and a half I had full custody of my two daughters, the keys to my house, a rental property, and so much more. I found that my five year goals happened in a year and a half.

The catalyst to this was a pedestrian versus automobile accident in January on 2002 when I was hit by a car on the freeway in a tragic event. I was walking and I lost everything in a blink of an eye. I did see the Light, it is real. I was given a chance to continue on in the Light or to return to do what I’m here to do. When that amount of Love, Peace, and Power asks you to do something, well it I chose to come back even though it reveled to me the hardships of the 2 month hospital stay, the 6 months in a wheelchair, disabled for years, wife moving on, and everything else you could imagine. I lost my landscaping business, my friends had continued on with their lives, and I had to completely recreate my life.

The Book Swimming in the Goodness the Golden Guide is a book that I wrote with the intention of having a person read it and apply its teachings, to create amazing and extraordinary experiences in their life. To dream and to believe me when I say that there isn’t anything that a person can not do. The whole series of Swimming in the Goodness The Golden Journal and The Golden Planner are two books that compliment the Golden Guide to really create that amazing life you have always dreamed of.

The 4th book is still being edited and it is the book of my story, in detail, from the events that preceded the night that I got hit by the car. It goes into detail of the Light experience, seeing Heaven or God or Light, what ever you want to label it. It also goes into the struggles and challenges of the extremely low periods of my life to the change that happened to the breakthrough. Truly a hero’s journey story. Stay posted on that Goodness, it will be a great read!

Q: What is the message you really want people to take away from your book?

A: The message that I want my readers to take away from my book are actually stepping into the experiences of their dreams. The Book is designed for application purposes. Like a written down vision board that is structured for potent success! Sit down and be open, authentic, and genuine with yourself one evening and begin writing down in each area what resonates with you. Be true to yourself. Complete the answers as if money or time were not a concern. You’ll be amazed the clarity that you will begin to see with. Then take those small action steps to make those dreams come to life!

So,we get to look at what you love doing it areas you may want to learn, then we move forward into that direction to create the people that you want to hang around with. That are happy too!!!

Know this, anything is possible, you can live an amazing life by adding this books principles into your life. My spiritual truth of Swimming in the Goodness is the knowing that the Goodness is all around me (and you too) and I can create any environment I want to be in if I commit to creating those experiences and environments. It is true power, a mindset that people can come to experience themselves that will enrich your life.

Meet the Lender – Lone Hale

There are times in your life when you meet someone and you instantly become friends. Some

years ago, a group of us decided to give CrossFit a try. That’s where I met Lone. Through the

pain of the daily WOD (workout of the day) we shed blood, sweat, tears and countless curse

words. Naturally, we became friends.

There have been many occasions when I have asked her for her advice and services during the

purchase and sale of my homes and she has never steered me wrong. She is honest and truly

cares about her clients.

Meet, Lone Hale – Senior Loan Officer, Integrity Mortgage Group

Q: How long have you been in the business?

L: 24 years! WOW!!

Q: Why did you choose to be a loan officer?

L: I believe the mortgage industry chose me in a way. I was doing hair as a means to get myself

through college when I received a call from my Step-Father. He asked if I would like to assist his

Loan processor on my days off and after hours. I was thrilled to learn new things and loved

everything about the mortgage industry from the start! Soon thereafter, I left the beauty

industry and became a processors assistant. I moved quickly on to be a Loan Processor and

from there, went to school to become a Licensed Loan Officer.

Q: What do you like most about what you do?

L: I love helping 1st time home buyers get into their very own home! It is such an exciting time!

Q: If you only had one tip to give people what would it be?

L: Live within your means. Even if you qualify for a higher mortgage payment, don’t exceed

what you are truly comfortable with paying each month.

Q: Can you give me an example of how your new 5 day closing certificate works?

L: On a recent purchase loan, we went from the offer accepted on the property to cleared for

loan documents in 5 business days. We closed the entire transaction in 15 calendar days!

Q: What are some of your favorite hobbies?

L: Exercise/Boot Camp, Traveling to new places and painting.

Q: What are 3 things on your bucket list?

L: Skydive, Travel to Tahiti, Road trip the US with no timeline or destination.

Q: If you could live anywhere, where would that be?

L: I have lived in San Diego all of my life and couldn’t imagine anything else!

Q: If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life what would it be?

A: Tacos!

Q: Best advise you ever received?

L: Work hard play hard

I Should Be…

I SHOULD BE writing about real estate, design or giving market stats. The truth is I don’t really feel like it right now. Staying true to myself, I will write about what is weighing heavy on my mind.

Three little words. I SHOULD BE.

My head spins constantly with these words. I SHOULD BE working harder, I SHOULD BE networking more, I SHOULD BE relaxing more. I SHOULD BE doing laundry. I SHOULD BE making more money. I SHOULD go to the gym. I SHOULD take a nap.

You get the picture, right? The inner battle is more exhausting than the thing I tell myself I should do. If I do let myself watch a movie then later I guilt myself about how I should have spent my time more wisely. Why do I do this to myself?

Well for starters, I have a list of things I want to achieve. I have places I want to see. There are things I want to do for my kids. If I don’t work hard then I can’t expect everything to just fall in my lap. No one is just going to walk up to me and give me my dreams. It is up to me to make them happen.

Or is it? Logically yes, hard work pays off, but have you ever noticed that when you let go for a little while things just seem to fall into place? Letting go is scary. Letting go means you have to have complete faith that everything will work out. Letting go means I will be satisfied with not having what I want now but knowing it will happen. IT WILL HAPPEN.

I like those three words better.


To Add or Not to Add, that is the Question

Seasoned real estate agents probably look at all the newbies and roll their eyes.

So, what went in to the decision to become a Realtor? Memories. Every home I bought and sold represents a different time in my life. Some happy, some sad but all important, meaningful, necessary. With each home transaction, there was an agent that held my hand, listened to my emotional outbursts (there weren’t too many I promise) and made sure I could rest easy.
